Charity support, when supporting a charity, does its visibiliy have any impact on your decision to give?

With an abundance of charities people can give to, with over 26,000 charities registered in New Zealand, how do you make the decision to give?

Does a personal situation have an impact?

Or is it the the visibility of an organisation that helps drive your decision to give?

We know that those companies, shops, cafes etc that have a high profile are most likely to have the highest market share, can the same be said for charities?

Would you give to an organisation with a low or no public profile, if you would why? If you wouldn’t why not?
